Art Missions
We believe art can be a strong tool to engage community.  Through our Sunday Art Adventures we are working locally and thinking globally.  We are building bridges with our art, not every community needs new wells dug or ditches dug; but every community needs bridges towards Jesus and back to the father. We hope to one day take our community to artistic cultural centers around the world.  As a community of artists we can engage these cultures uniquely while proving opportunities to our members for professional growth.

Our Sunday Art Adventures takes planning, supplies & preparation.  We could move several hundred pounds of equipment on any given Sunday.  One week it may be 20 cans of paint and another week it may be large easels and art boards.

We are asking for a vehicle  donation to the arts ministry for the purpose of engaging the surrounding community.  Your donation would enable us to be mobile and it would give us the freedom to impact many more lives.  There was a program called "Vango" that latter became know as "Color Wheels" that visited nursing homes and youth centers to teach art.  There are several centers that are interested in our community bringing art to both their young and old members.

We have started to build relationships with centers and nursing homes through service projects and community murals.  The ability to travel with our art supplies on hand would give our programing team freedom to focus on more creative opportunities.

We would be able to teach our students art using a variety of media.  We would be able to set up and tare down mural projects in a snap.  We would be able to attract interest when we engage community at local parks.  We would be able to spend more time with people than with logistics. What other ways could you see us benefiting from an Art Van?

If you would like to donate a van to the ministry please contact Alex Ferree.

Short term Mission Trip Comics?

Leslie Jordan while on a mission trip to Costa Rica noticed a need to connect with middle school aged youth.  She said "There was materials and things we could hand out to little kids and there were materials to hand out to adults, but there was nothing we could give away to the middle school age youth."

Out of her desire to share Jesus with these young people she decided to ask her community of artist to consider producing a comic that could be a wonderful gift and opportunity to talk about Jesus.

Alex Ferree decided to take up her challenge with his comic geared towards the people of Hungry with his story "The Course".  Its about a runner who loses his love and sub sequentially looses his passion for life, till a stranger shows him kindness through his service.

Do you have a heart for Art Students?

Modeled after Francis Schaeffer's L'Abri homes Andrew and Ginny Oswalt graduated of CCAD opened up there home once a month to hungry CCAD students for a year.  They provided a home cooked healthy meal and had open discussions about various life issues with students at there home in German Village.  Andrew and Ginny could relate with the art students because of there experience at art school and had spent some time at a L'Abri home.

We want to encourage couples who have a heart to extended the love of Jesus at CCAD to partner with us.  Help feed CCAD students and help the campus bible study extend God's grace.  We are looking for five couples to commit in opening up their home once a month to provide a meal and safe environment.  We will corodnate rides every friday night to a different home with a group of art students.  We hope to have five comited couples by the start of the 2010-2011 school year. During one semester your commitment would be once a month, for four months.  Help us cultivate these young creative individuals and share God's compassion with them.
